E-car models with 6 or 7 seats

Whether for large families or trips with friends - sometimes five seats are simply not enough. Those who rely on electromobility do not have to do without enough space or comfort: Some electric vehicles offer flexible seat configurations for one to two more people. We present five electric cars that are really convincing in the 6- and 7-seater segment.

With the increasing popularity of electric cars, the demand for their versatility and suitability for everyday use is also growing. In addition to a long range and advanced technology, space is becoming a decisive criterion for many buyers, especially when it comes to family trips, excursions or travel. After we have already introduced electric cars for families and electric cars with a large trunk, in this article we will focus on models with six or seven seats.

Mercedes EQB: Compact, clever and full of flexibility

Despite its compact design, which offers clear advantages in the city and when parking, the Mercedes EQB makes optimal use of every centimetre with its clever space concept. The third row of seats, available as an optional extra, can be easily folded up if necessary and thus also offers space for spontaneous passengers - ideal for families and all those who appreciate flexibility. The second row of seats can also be moved by up to 14 centimetres, which can increase either legroom or the luggage compartment. This means that the interior adapts flexibly to your needs, whether you are going on holiday or simply making larger purchases.

The EQB combines typical Mercedes quality with state-of-the-art electric car technology. With 215 kW (292 hp), the top-of-the-range variant accelerates to 100 km/h in just 6.2 seconds and achieves a range of up to 535 kilometres. Inside, the electric SUV scores with the intuitive MBUX system and a high-quality head-up display. The "Hey Mercedes!" voice control and augmented reality navigation promise a comfortable driving experience. Safety is at the forefront at Mercedes: The EQB is equipped with Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Assist and Emergency Braking as standard. In addition, a panoramic glass roof also floods the interior of the EQB with daylight, and a 31-colour ambient light is also available.

Kia EV9: Electric SUV with van qualities

With its angular, powerful body, the Kia EV9 visually stands out from the competition. With a length of five meters and a wheelbase of 3.10 meters, it combines the best of two worlds: the versatility of a van and an SUV. At the heart of the EV9 is its well-thought-out space. The electric car comes as a 7-seater as standard, while the optional 6-seater variant instead offers two swivel individual seats in the second row, which can be rotated 90 or 180 degrees. This flexible concept allows for easy entry and is really practical, for example when attaching child seats. And thanks to the 1.98-metre vehicle width and the high body, all passengers in the EV9 have plenty of space – even in the third row of seats.

In the interior of the EV9, Kia also relies on sustainable materials such as recycled PET and bio-paints. The cockpit is dominated by two 12.3-inch screens arranged side by side, which clearly display all driving and infotainment information. Thanks to "Digital Key 2.0", the smartphone serves as a key, while an integrated navigation system with charging planning and the Meridian sound system with 14 speakers make driving an experience. Kia offers an extensive range of basic equipment that already includes many functions, from the inductive charging station to bidirectional charging and seat heating. In addition, the EV9 is equipped with a wide range of assistance systems. Standard features include Lane Keeping Assist and Blind Spot Assist, an emergency braking function and a 360-degree camera.

Volvo EX90: Elegance and safety on a large scale

The Volvo EX90 has set out to set a new standard for electric SUVs with its spacious and elegantly designed interior and modern seating concept. As the successor to the popular XC90, the EX90 offers three rows of seats as standard, with space for up to seven people. The seats in the first and second rows are extremely spacious and comfortable. There are two additional seats in the third row, but they are more suitable for children. They can be stowed flat in the boot floor if required, creating a completely flat loading area when additional storage space is required. With the second and third rows of seats folded down, the load volume grows to an impressive 1,915 litres.

The Volvo EX90 combines its spacious layout with state-of-the-art technology. The interior is dominated by a minimalist, Scandinavian-inspired design that relies on sustainable materials such as recycled fabrics and wool. A large 15-inch touchscreen and a Google-based infotainment system ensure intuitive operation. Powerful drive options with up to 380 kW (517 hp) and a 111 kWh battery with a range of around 600 kilometres according to WLTP make the EX90 suitable for long distances. In addition, Volvo's advanced safety and assistance systems constantly monitor drivers and their surroundings to intervene in emergency situations.

Tesla Model X: Electric power for the whole family

In addition to the classic configuration as a 5-seater, Tesla's Model X is also available with six or seven seats. In the 6-seater version, the electric car offers a , which creates more space and comfort for passengers through individual seats in the second row. This makes the car ideal for families who value easier passage to the third row of seats and maximum legroom. The 7-seater version with a 2+3+2 arrangement, on the other hand, provides a classic bench seat in the second row. This comfortably seats three people and allows more flexibility for larger groups or families with children.

But the Tesla Model X not only impresses with its versatility, but also with its strong performance and state-of-the-art technology. With two power levels – 493 kW (670 hp) in the dual-motor version and an impressive 750 kW (1,020 hp) in the Plaid version – the Model X boasts impressive acceleration values. These are reminiscent of electric sports cars and enable a top speed of up to 262 km/h. Thanks to a range of up to 560 kilometers, the Model X is also well prepared for longer journeys. The interior is minimalist and relies on innovative operation via a central 17-inch touchscreen and a futuristic steering wheel designed in the style of an airplane pilot.

BYD Tang: The space giant for seven people

The BYD Tang combines generous space for up to seven passengers with modern technical equipment. The model actually falls into the mid-range, but has a space that is otherwise only found in larger SUVs or vans. Its dimensions of 4.87 meters long and 1.95 meters wide create enough space for a third row. The configuration is quite flexible: In normal 7-seater operation, the trunk volume remains rather manageable at 235 liters. If you fold down the third row, 940 litres are available, and if the second and third rows are completely folded down, the storage space increases to 1,655 litres.

The BYD Tang also impresses in terms of technology: Two electric motors deliver 380 kW (517 hp) and enable acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, while the 108.8 kWh battery with LFP technology offers a range of up to 530 kilometres. A 360-degree camera, 11 radar sensors and Brembo brakes ensure high safety standards. Numerous assistance systems such as blind spot warning and hill start assist also increase safety. A rotating 15.6-inch infotainment display, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a high-quality sound system are standard on board. The panoramic glass roof and a 31-colour ambient light create an atmospheric atmosphere.
